Link Advisors: Amanda Glerup, Patty Masciotro, John Mata and Bryan Skarda
LINK Leaders are a select group of juniors and seniors who work with the freshmen students to help them transition smoothly to high school life at Heritage.
LINK ORIENTATION - August

The initial activities on the morning of Freshmen Orientation occur in the main gym where Ice Breakers and challenges are met by the new, incoming class. Once this initial welcome is completed, the new students go with appointed LINK Crew Leaders to classrooms and through the next several hours, they are more personally welcomed to Heritage High School by three or four LINK Leaders. They are challenged with activities that are then made relevant by the LINK Leaders so that they see how life at Heritage will be over the next four years. In a structured, trained way, the LINK Leaders use the outcomes of the activities to pass on Heritage's climate and culture, so that when they arrive on the first day of school, they are feeling less anxious about getting around the school. The last part of the morning of orientation, the whole new class meets in the theatre for a closing assembly that gives one last big welcoming to their new school. Then, the LINK Leaders give the students their schedules and take them on a campus tour where they can locate their classrooms, get to their locker, and locate offices of teachers, counselors and other main office locations they'll need sometime through their stay at Heritage.
CRAMFEST - December

One afternoon in the week before the first semester finals, the LINK Crew sponsors a study session in the student center that gives the 9th graders a chance to study and receive tutoring with various LINK Crew members. All LINK Crew members are available for two hours in areas of their strengths of study. Freshmen are encouraged to stay after school on this particular afternoon to study for their finals with upperclass students ready and willing to assist. There is always refreshments available. PTO has been a great help over the years providing eats and drinks for those attending.
Scavenger Hunt - January
Second semester is well on it's way, and the Freshman have had a good chance to familiarize themselves not only with the LINK Crew, but also with the school. During and advisory hour, freshman re-convine with their small group that met at orientation to scour the school for teachers, and places and rooms that they may or may not have noticed before! After sucessfully finding these items around Heritage, the students meet up with the rest of their advisory to claim their prize - be it a pizza party, a doughnut party, or a bag of mega-candy! The scavenger hunt is an activity to unify freshman and LINK crew alike!
Icecream Social - March
It's May and second semester is almost over. The icecream social is LINK's way of saying "thanks for a great year!" For three hours, LINK Crew stationed in the Student Center give out icecream sundays, icecream cones and even rootbeer floats to any freshman who attends. We like to go out with a slam, so keep up the good work, and keep studying for those finals!
